It was Friday evening, September 2006. I was busy packing my backpack with all my friends. I was so nervous and excited at the same time, because it was my first journey to hike the mountain. Sadly, It’s been raining heavily since afternoon, this condition successfully made my mom worried a lot about me. She even told me to cancel or postpone my plan to hike the Gede Mountain at that day. However, I couldn’t follow what she want because this is my dream, my ambition, I’ve been waiting that day since I was in junior high school. Moreover, I have already prepared everything such as the backpack, shoes, raincoat, the food, and all equipment that needed since a month ago. So, I tried to calm my mom down and stop worrying about me at that time by explaining my safety preparation and also my physic condition. Finally, after a long debate, my mom allowed me to go. Yet, it didn’t stop there.
My dad suddenly called me and warned me to not go to the mountain because of the bad wheather. “Oh God, why is it so hard to convince my parents that I’d be just fine.” My heart exclaimed. Then, unlike what I did to my mom, I was a little bit protessed to my Dad. I told him that I wasn’t a kid anymore, I was 16 and close to be 17. Yet, it didn’t work well, still my dad didn’t allow me to go. I almost gave up at that time until my friend came and helped me to explain it to my dad. He was more experienced that me, he’s been hiked Gede Mountain for three times. I was waiting with butterflies in my stomach, it’s been 15minutes but my friend was still busy explaining and. Begging to my dad. After 25 minutes, he ended the conversation and approached me with a very flat face. I thought he couldn’t change my dad’s decision, but then with a very flat voice he told me ” You will go with us”. I was so happy like a dog with two tails. Finally, after a long phsyc and equipment preparation, and a difficultt process to get permittion from my parents, I could make my dream came true. “Gede mountain here I come” I whispered.
